Fascist students an integral part of Heimdal’s history

I completely agree with David Lindén. I agree that “openly fascist” students dominated the board of Heimdal and “opposed the Jewish doctors”. I also agree that Den Svenska Linjen – before inspiring the name of the FMSF magazine – was the name of a racist pamphlet. And that is the problem.

It would a bad idea if organisations (from states to student associations) were allowed to retroactively decide by themselves which bits and parts of their history they like and are willing to include in the official record, and which other bits they choose to either excuse, bracket out or brush under the carpet. That would be the end of accountability. Heimdal had a board dominated by “openly fascist” students who played a key role in the Bollhus meeting affair, and that is an integral part of Heimdal’s history.

To speak about feelings of guilt is completely misplaced in this debate. All I asked Heimdal was to assume an institutional responsibility for the actions of a majority of members in a former board of the association. Either Heimdal does that, or they provide unrestricted access to their archives so that researchers and the general public can determine the extent of Heimdal’s involvement. If David Lindén is right then Heimdal has nothing to hide.
